The existing master bathroom of this modest mid-century modern on Siesta Key needs an update.
I am collaborating with a concrete specialist to provide custom millwork with a countertop in which the sink will be formed into the top. We've worked through a design-to-shop drawing process with everyone involved, creating 3D visualizations, mocking up the sink profile in the field to confirm that it “feels right”, coordinating with the plumber, field measurements, shop drawings and so on. The formwork will be created next, which is fascinating because we must create the negative space first, which will be removed to reveal the positive.
Not only does this type of collaborative process ensure an efficient process and a well-thought-out project, but in the end, everyone is making a valuable contribution toward the final product.
